IMMUNE 2 INFODEMIC Webinar Series
Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI)
Date & Time
13 May 2026 | 15:00–16:00 CET | Online
Foreign state and non-state actors are increasingly using information as a weapon — targeting elections, public health debates, and social cohesion across Europe. This webinar examines the nature, tactics, and consequences of Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI), and equips participants with the knowledge to recognise and resist it.
The second session of the IMMUNE 2 INFODEMIC 2 Webinar Series focuses on a growing threat to European democracy: the deliberate, coordinated manipulation of the information environment by foreign actors seeking to destabilise societies, sow division, and undermine trust in democratic institutions.
FIMI goes beyond ordinary disinformation. It involves state-sponsored or state-aligned actors who systematically exploit social media platforms, news ecosystems, and public discourse to advance geopolitical agendas.
Through real-world case examples drawn from recent European experience, this session will help you understand how FIMI operations are designed, how they spread, and what makes them so difficult to counter.
Our expert speakers will also present the EU’s evolving policy and regulatory framework for addressing FIMI, and introduce the free e-learning tools developed within the IMMUNE 2 INFODEMIC 2 project to help citizens, educators, and professionals build informed resilience.
