EU-US-China Science and Technology Competition in the Age of Complexity

European Hub for Contemporary China Workshop

This unique event organised within the European Hub for Contemporary China (Horizon Europe) project, dedicated to the multidisciplinary analysis of EU-US-China relations from the perspective of technology, will be a perfect opportunity for China experts and professionals to come together, network, exchange ideas and experiences and learn about the present and the future state of Chinese technology.

Can Chinese technology pose a threat to the European market, or will the shifting geopolitical alignments make the EU turn towards increased technology transfer with the PRC? Which of the Chinese sectors of innovation are prioritised by the CPP, and which industries may become ground for future Sino-European collaboration?

Divided into three thematic panels, this workshop will provide a truly diverse examination of science, technology and innovation in China. It will showcase the perspectives on diplomatic ties between Europe and China through the lens of technology, assess the progress and shape of advanced technologies such as satellites, drones and ICT in China as well as frame the subject of Chinese science in the context of trilateral EU-US-China relations.

Held at the Centre for International Studies and Development (CISAD) of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, where the Global Complex Systems Lab operates, this workshop will include a Complexity perspective on China’s technology and foreign policy towards the US and the EU.

This workshop will take place on Thursday, February 26th at the Reymonta 4 campus in Kraków, Poland
