Final Conference
As the EH4S project finishes its third year, it is time to use all that has been written and said in nearly 50 papers and six workshops as a starting point for looking forwards to what the future might hold. In this final conference, project researchers will join with external experts to first discuss different ways in which we can try to study the future, and then to evaluate the likelihood of China achieving the advances and transitions that its leaders want to accomplish over the next decade in five key areas; science and technology, the environment, security and military affairs, political economy, and China’s norm contestation in the international order. The final task is to then consider what these changes – successful or not – could mean for Europe (and indeed, the global order more generally).
As with all EH4S events, we aim to generate an inclusive discussion with presenters playing the role of conversation starters, with the expectation that all participants will contribute to and continue those conversations (and not just in the conference room).
